Coat Hook Concepts

 Concept 1:

For this concept, I had to add more details in comparison to the other ones, as it is more difficult to understand on paper. I also made a second, more complex version (shown at the top right of the image). I was going for something following a checkered retro style, and ended up adding some extra parts in order to give it structure and actually connect all of its parts. Due to it being hollow on the back (as illustrated), it would be easy to hang on a wall.

Concept 2:

For this concept, I went for something playful, and can be used both as decoration and a hook. Perhaps it could even be placed next to an umbrella stand! I also experimented with different cover lengths, as seen above. Lastly, I added a hollow space on the back of the umbrella handle in order for it to be easily hung on a wall.

Concept 3:

For this concept, I was going for something minimalistic. Something that Gary Hustwit's film (Objectified) argues that is key in design, is for the design itself to not be noticeable, and for it to be naturally used as second nature. This concept follows that idea, with it not serving exactly as decoration and being there to fulfill its purpose. Not trying to attract the user's attention, but also being very effective at its job. I also added a gap on the back so that its easy to hang on a wall.

Concept 4:

For this concept, I tried to achieve a design that can be attractive to all ages. Who doesn't love cats? It serves as a decoration, and also fulfills its purpose as a hanger. Just like the others, it is hollow on the back in order to be easy to hang.
(The tail is illustrated as a lighter color than the rest of the body for visualization purposes. If produced, the final product would be made up of a single, variable color.)

Concept 5:

For this, I decided to make a concept based on a single shape: a star. I added some dimension to it by dividing the star into different sections and elevating it against the wall. Like some of my other concepts, this one could potentially be used as both a hook and decoration. To hang this, a strong adhesive would have to be placed on its back. If it was produced as a hollow object, it would be lighter, and therefore, the adhesive wouldn't have to be as strong. On the other hand, it would also become more fragile and less durable.

Concept 6:

For this concept, I went for something that children could be potentially interested in, or maybe they'd like to have in their room. It has two hooks, and if produced, bright colors would be used through the entire product (maybe adding a few color variations). To secure this to a wall, strong adhesive tape or poster tape would be used against the back of the flower's stem, and to achieve that, the entire product would be made from fairly light, yet durable material.
